• Stephen E. Sandstrom: Trustee / Chairman

    Owner of Sandstrom and Associates an architectural firm in Orem Utah. Stephen has been the Project Architect over educational facilities for the past 10 years which amounted to more than half of a billion dollars in school projects. Prior to that time, his school experience includes 15 years of involvement in all facets of education design, site observations, and meeting with clients. Mr. Sandstrom recently stepped down from the Orem City Council because he was elected in November 2006 to the Utah House of representatives. Mr. Sandstrom was active in sports in High School. He ran the mile and 1500 meter dash and also ran cross country. He now enjoys coaching his children. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Brigham Young University and graduated from Arizona State University School of Architecture. Mr. Sandstrom is a successful businessman and will bring a lot of experience to the foundation.

  • Stephen R. Olsen: Trustee / Vice Chair

    Part owner of Steve Peterson Interiors Unlimited located in Orem Utah. Mr. Olsen Started out his career as a carpet layer and then became a flooring salesman for Shaw Industries. When Steve Peterson Interiors became available for sale Mr. Olsen and some partners bought the business. Mr. Olsen is currently the flooring manager and oversees all flooring purchase’s, installation and customer satisfaction. Mr. Olsen’s Business experience will help the foundation.

  • Key Long: Trustee / Secretary

    Kay Long is retired from the Health and Human Performance department of Brigham Young University and currently resides in Orem Utah. Mrs. Long was an assistant meet manager and a key person in organizing the 100 year old Brigham Young University Track & Field Invitational and Utah State Track Championships for many years that were held at Brigham Young University. Mrs. Long has many years of experience with Track & Field and will be a great asset to the Foundation.

  • Leo Line: Executive Director

    Owner of Welcome Home Development located in Provo Utah. Welcome Home Development is a land development company that develops mainly residential subdivisions in Utah’s Wasatch front. Chief Political Advisor to Utah Senate President John L. Valentine. Was President Valentine’s first legislative intern during the 1989 Legislative Session. Has volunteered and worked with President Valentine from 1989 to present. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a coaching minor in 1990 from Brigham Young University. Extensive background in track & field. was the captain of the 1976 Utah State Champion Provo high School Track Team. Has been officiating track meets for over 30 years. He has served as the Officials Chair of USA Track and field for the State of Utah, Head Referee and Officials Coordinator for the 100 year old Brigham Young University Track & Field Invitational and Utah State Track Championships for many years that were held at Brigham Young University. Currently a track official for the prestigious Texas Relays held at the University of Texas in Austin. Technical Manager for the 2004, 2005,2006 NCAA National Championships in Sacramento California and a Technical Manager for the 2004 Olympic Trials also in Sacramento California. Has just been selected to the organizational services committee of the National USA Track & Field Association. His subcommittee assignment is site selection for the annual convention.

  • John L. Valentine: Legal Council

    Mr. Valentine was raised in Southern California. He ran track & field in high school and competed in the mile and 440 yd relay. He also was an entertainer at Disneyland for a summer job. He is currently a shareholder in the firm of Howard Lewis & Peterson Provo Utah. He has received an "AV" rating in Martindale -Hubble and is a Fellow in the American College of Trusts and Estate Counsel. Mr. Valentine has also served as an adjunct professor of law at Brigham Young University and is a certified mediator with Utah Dispute Resolution. Mr. Valentine has served in the Utah Legislature since 1988, first as a member of the Utah House of Representatives, and presently as a Utah State Senator. He is presently the president of the Utah State Senate. He also volunteers his time with the Utah County Search and Rescue as an EMT and a lead mountain climber during rescues. He received his Bachelor of Science in accounting and economics in 1973 and his Juris Doctor in 1976, both from Brigham Young University. His work to date for the Foundation has been on a Pro Bono basis.

  • Ira A. Fulton: Contributions Committee Chair

    Ira A. Fulton, Founder and Owner of Fulton Homes, Fulton was born in Tempe, Arizona, in 1931 and played football and ran track for Tempe Union High School –– and he later attended Arizona State University on a football scholarship and also threw the shot put and javelin. Fulton Homes was founded in 1975 and grew to be one of the top homebuilders and family owned businesses in Arizona. Fulton has made a lifetime commitment to contributing time and investments for the betterment of not only the Arizona community, but communities all over the western United States, donating more than $300 million to worthy causes. Fulton has been continuously ranked in the Top 50 US philanthropists by Business Week Magazine, the only member of this elite group in Arizona. Under Fulton’s direction, Fulton Homes donates 60% of the company’s profits to worthwhile causes and he personifies a culture of sharing which imbues his actions and those of his company. Fulton Homes has enjoyed a long relationship with many charities and public service outlets dedicated to students and bettering our education system. While helping institutions such as Arizona State University, Brigham Young University, Utah Valley University, as well as the Huntsman Cancer Center, Fulton is guided by a principle that is now also inscribed on the wall of the gymnasium of his alma mater, Tempe High School: “ Our future lies in our ability to dream. What we dream, we can create. What we create, we can become.” We are extremely grateful to have Ira Fulton on our foundation team.
